Wintery Artist Trading Cards With Houses

The background for each of these cards was created using the same technique as these Artsy Snowmen Cards. These 5 cards were made using the 5 smaller cards that were cut from the masterboard from that project. As like the cards, also here a border was stitched around each of these cards. It gives them a nice touch, but is not mandatory. Ephemera of winter scenes were then used to decorate these cards. Wouldn’t these look nice decorating a junk journal or tucked as a small gift in a Christmas card?

Time required for this project: about a half a day for the gesso to dry on the masterboard. Once dry, each card is finished within a couple of minutes.

Difficulty Level: Easy

Material List for the masterboard:

- piece of unwanted heavy paper or cardboard (here one was used that came with a set and the colors were not liked)
- scrap pieces of white and light blue paper (these can be scraps of construction paper, scrapbookpaper, magazine
- images, flyers, brochures, etc...) - the more various pieces, the more interesting the background will be
- glue stick
- white tissue paper or thin white fiber paper
- white gesso
- paint brush

Material list for the artist trading cards:

- paper cutter or ruler to cut out the cards from the masterboard
- ephemera of winter scenes with houses or villages
- sewing machine and white thread (optional)
- corner rounder (optional)
- stick glue
- scissors

2. Sometimes an image is larger than the card itself. Simply glue it on the card how you would like it to be and turn the card over and trim off the excess paper.

3. Then the image fits onto the card and the remaining pieces can be glued on.

Add a sentiment to each of the cards once you are finished with embellishing them.

The technique to make each of these is similar, yet every card has its own individual charm.
